The M&M trivia!
Ever wondered how M&Ms are manufactured?
I was biting into one some time ago and was rather curious as to how it is possible to coat the chocolate fillings so evenly with candy...
Anyway, I managed to find out the answer and here's a short summary!
Firstly, the chocolate is placed in molds to get the shape that we want. Then they are tumbled around to make the chocolate smooth and rounded. Once it is harden, it is dumped into large containers of liquid candy and rotated. During this process, coats are sprayed on the rotating chocolates at timed intervals. This gives the chocolate an even layer of coat. Finally, color is added in the last coating and we get M&Ms!
Cool!
Did you also know that candy coated chocolate were used as combat rations in world war 2 also? It was because coating chocolates ensure that they would not melt. So, it's perfect for eating in any climate! =)
